Favourite anime Opening/Ending songs
I have browsed through the old topics and I haven't found this discussion, so here it is: What are your favorite anime opening/ending songs?
My favourites are (with an excerpt from the lyrics):
1. Record of Lodoss War (TV) [OP] - "Kiseki no Umi" ("Sea of Miracles"): "Kaze yo! Watashi wa tachimukau! Yukou kurushimi no umi e to"
2. Elfen Lied [OP] - "Lilium": "O quam sancta, quam serena, / quam benigna, quam amoena, / o castitatis lilium".
3. Gunslinger Girl [ED]- "Lascia ch'io pianga": "Lascia ch'io pianga la dura sorte, e che sospiri la libertà".

RE: Favourite anime Opening/Ending songs
I know a few songs that happened to be anime's opening or closing songs, but I've never watched those animes lol. For example, I love BoA's 'Every Heart' song and I've heard it was an opening song for... Inuyasha? I can't remember which anime now, but I've never seen it
I also love AKFG's 'Haruka Kanata' which was from Naruto, but I've never watched Naruto either lol.
And I think Gackt's song 'Metamorphoze' was an opening for an anime too. Haven't seen that one either.

Oh yeah, I remember that now, thanks!
I just found out (literally five seconds ago) that DBSK(TVHQ)'s 'asu wa kurukara' was the ending song for the anime 'One Piece.' I like that song lol. I should go through some of my Japanese songs to see if anything else is from an anime

I love that song! Other than that, I don't really know many anime songs, but I like 名も知れぬ花 (from 藍より青し) very much.

ケロロ軍曹 has the best songs. (And the weirdest). The current ED is one of the few I can sing along to.

I'm surprised no one mentioned Cowboy Beebop, yet.
I liked season's one and two ending song for Inuyasha. Someone recently vibed me to a (mostly goofy, but with a surprise ending twist) show called Princess Tsu tsu...the intro in particular is very sweet.
Way back when I liked Ranma's opener, bouncy and fit the show like a glove.
Paranoia Agent and Ghost in the Shell (the series) had another good opener, as well.

I was going to mention it
I know it isn't anime but I love all the music in the final fantasy games.

Rurouni Kenshin's opening theme song Sobakasu (Freckles), is my favorite
Japanese Lyrics:
Daikirai datta sobakasu wo chotto
Hitonadeshite tame iki wo hitotsu
Hebi ikkyuu no koi wa migoto ni
Kakuzatou to isshoni toketa
Mae yori mo motto yaseta mune ni chotto
"Chiku" tto sasaru toge ga itai
Hoshiuranai mo ate ni naranai wa
Motto touku made isshoni yuketara nee
Ureshikute sore dakede
Omoi de wa itsumo kirei dakedo
Sore dake ja onaka ga suku wa
Honto wa setsunai yoru nanoni
Doushite kashira? Ano hito no egao mo omoi dasenai no
Kowashite naoshite wakatteru noni
Sore ga atashi no seikaku dakara
Modokashii kimochi de ayafuya no mama de
Soredemo ii koi wo shitekita
Omoikiri aketa hidari mimi no piasu ni wa nee
Waraenai episoudo
Sobakasu no kazu wo kazoetemiru
Yogoretanui gurumi daite
Mune wo sasu toge wa kienai kedo
Kaeru-chan mo usagi-chan mo
Waratte kureru no
Omoi de wa itsumo kirei dakedo
Sore dake ja onaka ga suku no
Honto wa setsunai yoru nanoni
Doushite kashira? Ano hito no namida mo omoi dasenai no?
Omoidasenai no
Doushitenano?
English Translation:
I touched those hated freckles lightly and sighed,
My "heavy class" love has dissolved clearly
Just like a sugarcube.
The thorn stuck in my thin breast went in further
And hurt much more than before.
Astrology didn't predict that at all.
I wished we could go together farther,
It would be joyful enough to...
Memories are always beautiful,
But with only that you can't live.
Tonight should be a really sad night,
But why? Actually I can't remember his smiling face.
I understand breaking apart and putting back together
Because that's my personality;
With impatient feelings and uncertainty
Which nevertheless are capable of good love.
I pierced my left ear to forget,
It's an episode I can't laugh about.
Counting up the number of freckles
Embracing the spots and all
But the thorn piercing my breast won't disappear.
My stuffed frog and rabbit
Smile and comfort me.
Memories are always beautiful,
But with only that you can't live.
It was a really tough night
I wonder why though? Why can't I remember that person's tears?
I can't remember,
Why can't I?
