使徒 Please help!

I had been talking about the manga Evangelion with my Japanese pen pal and neither of us know what the kanji 使徒 means. Can anyone help me?

Dictionaries are ususally helpful for such things. Even if you don't feel like buying one, there are plenty of online ones that are useful. I like Jim Breens WWWJDIC, as it seems to work fairly well. It can be found at http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~jwb/wwwjdic.html . The word is there, but I'll leave it to you to figure out what it is ;)
Hm. A signature.

使徒 【しと】 (n) apostle; disciple

Thank you. I'm sure Hiroshi will be pleased.
