Kanji Help!

Post by jinksys » Thu 05.26.2005 12:55 am

I am trying to read some manga, with the help of a dictionary, but I am having trouble translating this:

hiragana: なん てん ゆたか
KANJI : 南天佑

The problem is that my dictionary doesnt have a kanji/hiragana match for yutaka, and windows' IME doesnt suggest it when i type in its hiragana, is this a rare kanji? Id like to know what the title of this manga is :-P

it could be that yutaka is a past tense conjugation(with question)

(=゚ω゚)ノ こんにちは。
佑 is a popular character for a given name and is usually read as ユウ or すけ.
it's very unusual to read this character as ゆたか.
so, i think almost all people couldn't read 南天佑(なんてん ゆたか) properly without よみがな(readings printed in hiragana) or ふりがな(hiragana which is printed beside each kanji).
usual readings for 南天佑 are:
なんてん ゆう, みなみ てんゆう, みなみ あまのすけ

[佑] 人部五画 人名用漢字 ユウ(イウ) 漢音
1. <たす・ける(たす・く)> 守る。かばう。 2. たすけ。「天佑(てんゆう)」 3.副官。
