]1. Forget all of the b.s about how the Japanese frown upon Americans. Yes, there are some who do, but there are Americans who frown upon the Japanese. My father is native Japanese & he married my mother, who is African American.

2. Yes, if you take the Japanese language seriously you will need kanji. It isn't so hard once you get into the swing of it. My father told me that it's best for me to learn a certain amount of kanji before really getting to the grammar. For better understanding, I think.

Now that I'm more committed to Japanese and have been studying grammar more I can say thats very true.

3. Japan is slightly smaller than California and looks like a banana (in my opinion).
It kinda looks like a banana, but I do recall reading Japan is about the size of Montana.

4. I'm not sure, but I wonder as well.

so who really is the geek here then?

Reading, listening, and watching are the actions of one who appreciates art.

Quoting and "living it" are the actions of a geek :p

And what is wrong with being a geek?

It pays the bills very well thank you B)

Note to self: People who are widely read and can quote from many works, both classical and popular, are geeks.

Think of the poor, overworked bakemono, spending all their time chasing down kittens to kill, with never a moment off.

Actually Domo-kun is a dinosaur... although I think he looks more like a chicken nugget. :/

Mmmm.. I want mac now..
