What is battle royal anyways?

I have never seen Battle Royale either but they talk about it alot at my Japanese club. From the info I gathered from them it is about some high school kids that go to some deserted island and then they kill each other.

In that case, Battle Royal sounds a lot like the English movie, "Lord of the Flies" (I think that was the name anyway).

Well, I think we all learned 2 things:

1) Tokyo has absoloutly no chance whatsoever, and

2) No matter where you go, teenagers will kill each other when stranded on a desert island.

Now I know #2 is true, but we shall soon see what #1 is.
