How can I type Japanese on my computer?

Can somebody please tell me how I can type Katakana on my computer? I have the fonts downloaded, but I don't know how to type them. Thanks.

I have the same problem currently with my Mac. I have Japanese that comes standard on the Mac, but for some reason, I cannot use it to type Japanese in windows such as the one in which I am typing currently. I have not trouble in Power Point, email, chat rooms, etc. Just in windows such as this.

In Windows XP its really easy, you just have to turn on the IME, and that lets you type kanji too. You just go the the control panel, and then regional and language options. Errm, I would link you to a good tutorial, but the site's down O.o

What I really wanna know, is how dya type in columns right-to-left???
