RE: Steve Irwin killed in freak accident
All I can say is...
Damn.
I really liked that guy. He was incredibly cool and ballsy. I always figured one day Aggro would get him -- I never thought it would be a stoopid accident like that. Man. My good wishes go out to Terri, Bindi, and Bob, as well as the extended family of the staff at the Australia Zoo.

It is very sad
especially being such an extremely popular and good hearted man, as well as the childhood animal expert for many people. The radio show I listen to on the way to work talked about Steve atleast going out being with animals and doing what he loved.
I wish the best for his family and friends.

I was actually surprised about the way he died. Stingray's aren't known for being aggressive. Just like any dangerous sport/job, sooner or later, the ferryman will show up and ask for payment in full up front.. but remember, don't pay the ferryman until he get's you to the other side.
anyways, the community he belonged to will certainly feel this for a long time.. as for me, just like any other high profile person who dies, it happens and I move on.. I can't say that I put a whole lot of weight on him or his deeds..
nevertheless, I feel for his family and their loss, if nothing else, he was a father, a husband, a son, and those in a few words are irreplaceable. I mourn their loss and wish them well.

I don't think Steve took any money with him when he went swimming

Humans are the most dangerous animals of all.
This makes me sad... no more Crocodile Hunter! Man, I didn't realize how much of a part Steve Irwin was in my life until now... It's so wierd. It feels empty... Ah, I love watching Croc Hunter... But now, it's like it's just... gone.
That's how I feel.

It's much older than that song. The song is referencing Greek myth (Charon, the ferryman over the River Styx.)
I wonder how Terry Pratchett would write Steve's meeting with Death?

Me too.
He was always so cool. I used to watch his show more often when I was younger, before my main interest shifted to other things. But I still enjoyed his shows and admired him. It's really sad that he's gone.

This is way too bad. I loved his show. I saw it on CNN at 1:35 AM in my timezone, and I had the TV turned down, so I didn't know he died at first, but when I found out, it hit me like a car.
Look to the skies and you'll find the heavens.
