WagaWiki's Logo Thread
RE: WagaWiki's Logo Thread
For the Wiki obsessed...
Obviously not a real entry.
Just for a chuckle...
But seriously, a lot of these look really cool. I kinda like the AndyAndyAndy's from the top of the page. I don't particularly mind that the battle flag is in it, and I doubt either of my Grandfathers would despite the fact they both fought in the Pacific theater.

RE: WagaWiki's Logo Thread
The naval flag of the rising sun (日章旗) would possibly be pretty negative in many Asian countries. Japanese once tried to invade and occupy Eastern Asia in WW II and did many mistakes...crimes.
In addition, it probably reminds Japanese people (esp. ones in Tokyo) of that "annoying" Right Wing parties. They appear in front of any railway station with their armored camouflage vihicle in dark green (looks like they're in army - but fake), with the rising sun flag (or Hinomaru, the national flag, they are commonly symbolic among that kind of parties), and make their political speeches way too LOUDLY.
And probably this red sun symbolizes some kind of "braveness" and yakuza groups and bousouzoku gang groups fond of using this symbol as their logo. The logos can be seen sometimes on stickers on their luxurious black cars with smoked (or half-mirrored) glasses (yeah, stereotypically speaking...).
I know no one here intend any of this army and fake braveness related things but that's why I'm negative... Yeah, the designs themselves are pretty nice!
but it's risky when Wagawiki becomes international - yeah I think it already is.
Well, as for me, I like the one with Sharaku guy (Ichikawa Ebizo). Sorry its too wide... And it reminds me of that coolest Mangajin magazin

I'm still pretty partial to Clay's #3. Mainly because I love the Kanji. I love that style of writing.

RE: WagaWiki's Logo Thread
I was playing around in Photoshop and came up with a few ideas. This is one of them, I still need to work on the rest.
The color doesn't have to be orange, it's just all one color based so it will be easier to change it later. Tell me whatever color would be better. I have more if this doesn't quite cut it.
I thought I'd just say why there's a fan there. Well, I'm not too good with ideas, and I figured that it's something Japan related.

Some entries have 我, some have 我が. Take your pick!
Some people are like Slinkies, not good for much, but bring a smile to your face when you push them down stairs.

That is a good one Mariya. What does it look like with a transparent background?
It is never too late to be what you might have been.

Since you were running into pics that people liked but were too big. Maybe after the logo contest you can start a banner contest, it just looks a little bland up there.

I like yours a lot, too, Mariya-san. It looks sophisticated and fun at the same time.

I like it too, what about red and white colors though? I don't know, just a thought.
