Leaving Amsterdam for New York

Sayville, huh? Sorry to say, but that's a bit more than an hour from Manhattan (especially in the morning!). Probably 2.5 hours at least. I live about 25 mins west of Sayville. It's an affluent town on the south shore of the island. Lots of expensive homes, very nice main street. It's a quaint place, and quiet. What a contrast it will be for you to go from Sayville to Manhattan every day! Good luck!

Yeah I know it's an hour away by Rail Road but the commute isnt that bad with some music on. If you live 25 mins west I am guessing you live somewhere around Babylon / Huntington. Am I right?

BTW Reno, usually New Yorkers are very xenophobic towards foreigners, but I'm sure you're cool because you come from the country that created Bas Rutten, Alistair Overeem, Ernesto Hoost, and the list goes on and on. Try and enjoy your stay on our mind-numbingly boring island!

That might possibly be true of New York City, but definitely isn't true of the rest of New York State.

well considering the majority of Americans are only 3-5 generations removed from their mother/father countries, I guess we are all foreigners.. lol

True, true; let me rephrase that. New Yorkers (which includes foreign-born residents) are very protective of their new home, in my experience. Someone who has lived here for 8 years many times is just as proud of their city as people who have had their family live here for 4 generations. Very interesting to observe.

No but thats what I mean I grew up watching movies since I was three. So I really am a rare case where you wont be able to tell that I am foreign. You can test me if you want but I wouldn't know in what way !
