Forum Suggestion

O M G, this forum is going downhill... We get people like this on a regular basis these days...
I have felt like that too before, I always wondered if someone would make another Japanese site with all the constant members, you just had to be invited in to be a member though. That would be cool, and get rid of all the 1 post members/spammers.
A suggestion I would make would be to have a server enforced rule preventing double posts. Basically if the current user is the same as the last user posting in the thread, have an error message (possibly pointing to the edit button) appear instead of the post going in. This would basically be a server enforced version of the current rules. This would prevent double posts that occour by double clicking Submit Post, and repeat posts from the same user, as happened at the beginning of the Fruits Basket thread.
This is a split from the Fruits Basket thread.

^^That sounds good. Has happened to me several times.
However, I think double-posting is necessary sometimes. For example, if you were the last to post in a thread (yours or not) and need to add something to the discussion after several days or even weeks, the best way to go is double-posting (in my opinion), because if you just edit your last post probably no one will notice you added something, because the thread won't be shown as having new answers.
Besides, if you're bumping a thread of yours that got no responses (or no useful responses and you're the last one to have posted there) after some days, probably the only way to go is double-posting.
Maybe it could be some sort of "no double-posting allowed for xxx minutes/hours"?

I'm with Tanuki on this one.

RE: Forum Suggestion
Actually there is a sneaky method to bump a thread you posted last on without producing an (obvious) double post. I'm not sure I should encourage people by pointing out what that method is though.

*thinks*
Hm...I think I know what you mean, paul-san.
EDIT: I'm pretty sure now. I bumped the ganguro thread as a test (yeah, everyone must be aware of ganguro).

RE: Forum Suggestion
I must agree as well. I simply hadn't thought of having a timer involved. I forgot that I bumped one a while ago for the same reasons tanuki mentioned. Perhaps, instead of a timer, make it based on if it is in the Newest Threads list. This would make it somewhat dynamic. If the forum is really busy, and your thread isn't getting seen, you can bump it sooner, if there is virtually no activity on the forum, you have to wait to bump it.
Question on the side - What is the busiest time of day for posts on this site?

That's not a bad idea, but _my_ newest threads list isn't the same as _yours_.

Sneaky? Well, it's kind of obvious. Sorry to burst your bubble
