Japanese mp3 download, legal sites only please.

Anyone know a site to download japanese mp3? Someone said you could through Itunes but I never find anything there.

I want to get some songs by 電気クルーヴ. I just want the songs where they do not sing. I can't stand the songs they sing, but the ones they don't are really good.

I'd prefer a site that does not encode the songs so they only work on a proprietary client. I really can't stand how when I downlead a song through Itunes, I need to use the itune player. So unencoded please if possible. I don't mind paying per-song, but I want to play it on the player of my choice.

Doesn't iTunes have a Japan store? I'm not sure if you can purchase songs from a non-local store, but even if you can't, you should still be able to see what music is available.

The problem with Itunes is they only allow you to download music for the country your credit card is registered. Thus, my credit cards bill to an American address, so I can only download from the .com itunes, I can't download from the Japanese or German, or any other domain due to copyright restrictions.

It seems like Itunes could make a killing if they opened up the songs worldwide. JPop is very popular.

I read Napster just opened a Japanese store, but just a quick look revealed no Japanese music. It was all Western rock with Japanese descriptions! Bah.

If you want to download Japanese music via ITunes, JBOX sells japanese pre-paid Itunes cards, and freely gives out their Japan address to use when registering.

Have you used it? I wonder if I will have to have two versions of Itunes loaded to get it to work with the American songs I've already downloaded.

It's not legal. Or rather, there are some files shared legally, but there is nothing to distinguish them. Most of the files are shared illegally.

If it makes you feel better, I've never heard of someone outside of Japan getting in trouble with the law or otherwise for having downloaded Japanese music.

Not everyone steals all they can get.
Downloading mp3s,Movies....etc has become far tooo normaly these Days...

I personally haven't used it. I just remembered seeing it a while ago while perusing that site. I actually haven't used Itunes, or any similar site at all. Usually, I obtain music via CD and rip it, stream it via internet radio (my current favorite is kawaii radio), or listen to XM.

Yea, it's just that I generally don't like buying CDs. I like maybe 2 songs, and 2 songs for $37 for an import just isn't worth it.
