RE: Idiot sites not to go to
Would 'contemptuous' or 'disdainful' be more accurate? I like 'supercilious,' but it seems to have lost currency in recent years.

Juding by what I've just read in another thread I'm going for "tired".

Then what was the point of including my comments in your reply.
One would suspect that as a child you had a bicycle with coaster brakes.
Because it was your comment that spawned the thought.
My first bicycle didn't have breaks. I stopped by running into a fence or a tree--or my neighbor's car. I have to admit, I never was very good at the stopping part.

So backpedalling was a skill you acquired later on in life?

RE: Idiot sites not to go to
even when he counted out the numbers he did that wrong. He wrote things like sanHyaku instead of sanByaku and for the number 999,999, instead of writing kyuu juu kyuu man kyuu sen kyuu hyaku kyuu juu kyuu he wrote some garbled up nonsense " Kyuu juu man kyuu man kyuu sen kyuu hyaku kyuu juu kyuu. He frickin used two "man" in one number! There is no number that I know of in Japanese that uses the word man twice. Also, he doesn't even give the alternative pronounciation of 7 which is shichi. He gives nana and for other numbers like 0 and 4 he gives both zero/rei and shi/yon but he completly forgets about shichi. What is a student going to do when they hear someone say "Boku no denwa bangou wa kyuu hachi roku no shichi shichi go san"? I do not want to find out what happens when he starts to do counters...we'll get nightmares like ichihito instead of hitori and nijuusai instead of hatachi.
Seriously, if you can't even get that right then don't make a website. I mean, when I was first starting out with the language I often said sanhyaku by mistake but any one who has been with the language for at least a few weeks should not have that problem. He definately should destroy that site and all links to it, or should turn it into a comedy site "Learn how to NOT speak Japanese in only 3 weeks!"
Btw, I clicked on his screen name and his bio came up, he's 14.

I don't really see the point in backpeddling. It's not as if you go backwards, just *click, click, click*
Are there bikes that go backwards?

Certain trick bikes, I believe.
Coaster brakes acted only on the rear wheel and were activated by pedalling backwards.

Whoever his Japanese teacher is, I want to show that website to him/her.
EDIT: Never mind. I should've known better.
And Paul, heheh, I see you changed your signature accordingly.
