They need more foreigners to fight this problem! :)
Good luck with studying everybody and I hope one day I will be able to pick it back up.

Until then, a nice goodbye from me to you ;)

I have to also agree that the women-only places are a bad sign for defeating sexism.

I don't think it'd be that bad. They should make a "men-only" car that would be like the boy's club of the rails. A place where us fellas could get together and smoke cigars, sip martinis, and talk about golf. On our way to work. And over the in the pink girly car, the girls can hang out and do... girl stuff. You know, like pillow fights and things.

Yeah! I still know how to build a inpenitrable fort (even if I might not know how to spell it) out of 2 chairs and a blanket. No girls allowed! We can have Tama-chan guard it too!

It's like the first step to bringing to Kool Kids Klub over to Japan; the power of segregation. >=X

Seriously. How bad is the "women-only" problem there?

It's not a problem.

The women-only cars are only in effect early in the morning. I've never ridden the train early enough to be in violation.

Other than that, nothing else is women-only. Yet.

Actually where I am, the trains (the ones that I've looked for it on--which I only do when I'm alone) that have women only cars are all day. Though that only accounts for the Seishin Yamate subway line and some random train in Osaka, I'm sure there are others that are all day too!

In Tokyo it's only a morning rush thing. At least on the major lines. If it's the evening, the women can just wait until the trains get less crowded (I guess that's their reasoning for making it morning-only, anyway)
