RE: Japanese cellphones

Yes, I love my Japanese cell phone more than anything, I'm going to be so sad when I go back to grad school in the US. :( I would totally pay the extra money to get it switched, but I doubt Verizon would do that. I'm embrassed to admit, though, I'm one of those girls with jewels stuck all over her phone. :D

The best part about cellphones in Japan are the 0 yen student discount phones (and the student discount plans). You'd think they'd be pieces of crap, but they really aren't at all.

Also, Japanese is just a more compact language in a lot of cases.

For example, for the word apple / りんご I have to do
apple 2-7->-7-5-5-5-3-3 (9 presses, 6 key changes)
りんご 9-9-0-2-2-2-2-2-# (9 presses, 4 key changes)

wow, you only have to press 0 once to get ん? I have to push it 3 times :o Maybe AU phones are different...

After the first reference I tried to figure out exactly what that meant, but I still have no idea. I never did pay much attention in my European History/Politics class. :(

He is popularly credited with having said "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing".

I say "popularly credited with" after having lightly perused:

Oh well then, I'm glad to see that I'm excused. :p

I'm too thick to recognize that "Ashurii" is "Ashley" and that you were a female in the car and not a male watching another male go into the car.

Not trying to cast aspersions on your ability to stand up against something like that by any means. But since the whole premise of the female-only cars is that females need to be protected from males, then applying that dubious quote to the situation is unwarranted.

As someone who almost never rides the trains, let me ask you: Aren't those coaches the end coach containing the conductor's compartment?

(Ashleigh :)) I wasn't offended at all, I only take it as a sign that I am not as worldly as I should be.

There are, but I guess I never really thought to go see a conductor about it.

Edit: Wow, I just realized this is the cellphone thread and not the women-only thread, sorry for the derail!
