Looking for internship/job show
As part of my (HS) senior project, I need 15 hours (pending more) of job shadowing, or internshipping, or whatever the proper term is, to graduate. My project is Japanese<>English translation, so I need to convince somebody in that field to let me shadow them for a few days. I know posting here is a bit of a stretch, but does anybody know any places--people, companies, anything--that has somebody working as a Japanese/English translator?
Here's the stretchy part: Are they located in Washington State, USA? I'm looking in (the cities of) Olympia and Seattle, and everywhere in between. Non-paid is of course fine, and this would all be happening in the summer.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Wow! And they say Jules Verne was a genius for foreseeing nuclear submarines!
Socrates was, I suppose, silent on the subject?

As I have told several other people looking for professional translators, contact a local lawyer and find out about translation services in your area.

Well I was talking about one of the classics, but not I think under quite the
same usage of 'classic'.

Hey, I grew up outside Seattle and went to college in Oly (Evergreen).
Unfortunately, I don't know anyone who does professional translations.

Not everyone who does translations professionally does professional translations.

I have found the above seems to apply to every line of work. The township I do all the IT work for has certainly found that general statement accurate, and the nearest city's public school district is currenlty finding it to be true of building contractors.

*sigh*
I simply meant "professional" in the sense of "as a profession".
I always have to spell everything out for you guys, it's like I'm giving English lessons to native speakers!

I missed this the first time around. Socrates had a similar saying, except he replaced "mother" with "young boy".

That the default association called up by reference to the single name "Homer" is now "Homer Simpson" and no longer the ancient Greek is a sad commentary on the decline and fall of Western civilization.

Give it another hundred years or so and it'll go back. Either that or by then they'll be teaching The Simpsons in English Literature degrees.

I swear, when I get old, I'm gonna make sure that I train myself to hate 'the good old days'. It can understand that people being more moral in the past was better. But when they start talking about stuff like how pong was so great and now we have PS3 coming out which makes people forget how great pong was, I want to smack them and yell "This is a hell of a lot better!" I personally find Homer Simpson to be a hell of a lot more entertaining than the author Not only that, he tends to be more useful due to relavency.
