I went to one station last night that had this whole orchestra piece as it's "Hurry up the doors are closing" music

(Whole as in all instruments included, not whole as in 10 minutes long)

I have to say, these widgits are great. It's what Microsoft was trying to do with the active x desktop content, but they completely dropped the ball with it.

Wow, you've got a lot of hate. "The train station makes me angry!"

I can't stand the English voice they use on the Tokyo train lines. The station names are pronounced so horribly; it sounds like my girlfriend when she does her impersonation of foreigners who can't speak Japanese.

Absolutely. Sometimes I leave our back room's door closed with the window open. It is the only room that doesn't have an A/C vent. When I walk into it after a few hours it gives that (somewhat) fresh non-air conditioned feel I got so used to in Japan. I know it's weird, but so very 懐かしい.

I haven't gotten to the point where I miss 八月 in Japan, though.

I remember when active x desktop content came out, I thought it was so great, then I went to microsoft's site and only saw about 10 different applets. There are thousands of widgits, I starteb paging through them, that's how I found the JR Sounds file of course, and I've spent a bit more than 15 minutes on them.

What I like is I have them set up on my flash drive, so wherever I go, my widgets go with me

What would be really cool is to somehow set up the Kanji Benkyou as a widgit, though I'm looking now to see if it's already been done.

Neat idea. It would have to be converted to a flat file and Javascript (or maybe Zen already did that...) but that is an excellent idea. Maybe even make a flashcard widget with specialized content (business terminology, fish names, 1 kyuu kanji part I, 1 kyuu kanji part 2, 1 kyuu kanji part 3...)
