○○ topic posts

Postby paul_b » Sat 11.11.2006 1:04 am

Recently I have seen far too many off topic posts in the off topic forum.

Er, that is far too many on topic posts in the off topic form.

Er ... posts that are off topic in off topic because they are on topic in other forums.

So next time you post something here stop and think - "Is this on .. off ... on ... Argh forget about it. :o

Put *down* the shochu and step back slowly...

But I (kinda sorta) know what you mean. :)

The thing that strikes me from time to time is, "I know this is the off-topics board, but... DAMN is that off-topic!"

2 much sake in the system while writing this Paul? lol, sorry.

Off-Topic is Off-Topic and I kinda like it to talk about the stupidest things....like these kinds of threads :D
Good luck with studying everybody and I hope one day I will be able to pick it back up.

Until then, a nice goodbye from me to you ;)

Sort of like last night some guy was asking for people to recomend porn manga....

Hey Tony got a new avatar! Was the spining green thing not good enough for a 16th century samurai?

I use this one in another forum, and... well, there are times when I feel like I need to lower a Mifune-esque boom. :)

I think I misunderstood Paul-san's post. What I understood was:

There are too many off-topic posts in the off-topic section that would be on-topic in other forums.

Sorta like me asking now: How does "off-topic" translate into Japanese?

(EDIT: Hey! This is my 777th post! I'm a lucky guy!)

I think it was Link from the Zelda series.
Two muffins were baking in an oven. One turns to the other and says "sure is hot in here." The other replies "AH TALKING MUFFIN!"

二つのマフィンがオーブンで焼かれていた。片方のマフィンがもう一方のマフィンに向かって、"暑いね”と言った。すると、話しかけられたほうのマフィンは"アッ!喋るマフィンだ!”と驚いた。 :)

Hmm. I think if you're getting this tangled up in (possibly implied) double (or triple) negatives in English it might be more the Japanese language you need to slowly back away from than the shouchu. But, since I'm close to bringing up "なければ", I should quit before this gets too on.. or off.. errr...

What he meant is, topics that would fit in other categories (e.g. ones about Japanese grammar, translation requests, or even Japanese culture) keep showing up in the off-topic section.

The off-topic section is for posts that don't directly relate to Japanese language or culture. If your post contains the word "Japanese" and relates to more than just getting your IME working, then it shouldn't be in this section.
