For JLPT4 test takers
For JLPT4 test takers
Hi, I've written a program that might be useful to any of you taking the JLPT4. It is a flashcard program, similar to Super Memo or Ultra recall in that it can show you cards in increasing intervals based on how well you know the card. I think it has a better interface than those programs, and it's also got a nice learning mode and can automatically pop up during the day to remind you to study (very nice if you work at a computer all day like me). Here is a link to the download:

I'm offering it for free to anyone from TheJapanesePage. If you like it, send me an email at "dan at digitaldominion dot com" and I'll email you a registration key. I plan on adding features and updating it for the JLPT3 (hopefully I pass 4!)... if you've got any feedback/requests/etc... please PM or email me.
You can see screenshots and stuff here:

Cheers and good luck on the test!

oooo that looks cool. I'll download it when I get home. I'm not too sure if it'll work on the school mac computers.

Hey, thanx. That looks cool. I'm going to download it now

RE: For JLPT4 test takers
I like the idea of the app but when I try to run it I got thi error:
Error:21library routine called out of sequence in query create table cards (id INTEGER PRIMARY KEY, subject, lesson, name, question, answer, selected)
and another error about my system time being incorrect followed by the error:
Access violation at address 057d352 in module 'JLPTFLASH.exe'. Read of address 00000005
What could be wrong?
Is the app rooted in the system it has been written on and maybe files are missing?

RE: For JLPT4 test takers
erikN: I've tried it on a few different systems and it worked. It sounds like you might have just double clicked the .exe file while it was still in the .zip file. Did you extract both the exe and the database (.db file), and are they both in the same location? The first error sounds like the .db file is missing or can't be read for some reason. If that doesn't help, send an email to dan at digitaldominion dot com and I'll try to help you out.
Has anybody downloaded it an gotten it to run?

Looks great, but I'm a Mac user

RE: For JLPT4 test takers
Sorry Sachi, unforunately I'm a PC guy, so no plans for a mac version in the near future

Debu, great program.
I agree, simple to use, easy interface. Thank you.
Pardon my ignorance, would an importing option be too difficult to add?
In so much as I mean, already having a Kanji data base and being able to import into the program?
I have no idea how easy/hard that is to do pardon me.
I did read your faq about new features being added. Fingers crossed that feature may be one of them.
Anyway, hats off, thanks again for the program

RE: For JLPT4 test takers
Kagemaru: Thanks for the feedback. Yes, I plan on implementing options to import and edit cards. I'll probably do this after the test tho, since I've got some other features that I'd like to get in for the test since they might help me pass (test taking practice and what not). Also, I hope to have it include the standard 2000 kanji by default once I get around to entering them.
Cheers!
Cheers!
RE: For JLPT4 test takers
What formats would you want to import from? I plan on implementing a simple text import (one card per line, sides separated by a tab or something). Are there any other formats I should look into?

Hi Debu-san
I'm teaching Japanese for 6 grade in Seattle. I downloaded your software and my students loved it. I think it will be nice if I can import Kanji from a text file or MS Excel. Also, if it displays picture that explains Kanji (like Karuta), it might be good for early age children.
Thanks!
