大漢和辭典 Dai Kan-Wa Jiten
Does anyone know where I can purchase an affordable set of Morohashi Tetsuji's 諸橋轍次 classic Dai Kan-Wa Jiten 大漢和辭典 15-volume dictionary? I have inquired around, and have found that the retail price for a new set is \240,000 (as quoted by Taishukan 大修館, the current official publisher of the dictionary set), which is really out of my budget!
Based on my research, I understand that it is the most comprehensive Kanji 漢字 dictionary in the world, arguably even better than the later-published 漢語大辭典 from China (especially for Classical Chinese texts, which is my area of interest).
Thank you.

CAUTION--- those are not 15 set volume, since it was published before 2000.

We used to have grad students pick up rediculously cheap sets in either Taiwan or HK (can't recall which, now).
Man, Morohashi -- I really wish I'd've grabbed a set when I had the chance.

I think it's Taiwan. That's what the Wikipedia article says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daikanwa_Jiten).
Wonder if they are available for purchase on any Taiwanese online bookstores...

I wonder how one approaches a bookstore in Taiwan via e-mail and asks about pirated books...

I would have said it this way.
Well if they are really pirated books you want, just black mail the store and when they send you the books call the police and get the reward money as well.
That way you get the books and money while doing your civis duties.

As far as I understand, Taiwanese bookstores do not do overseas delivery with one exception: http://www.books.com.tw
You need to know Chinese to find your way round the site. And they charge a fortune for the privilege of overseas delivery. Have fun.

Not very good blackmail but he's in another country.
Find a store that has them and you should be able to import, you just need to get a bigger budget though.

Blackmailing someone about Piracy in Taiwan is like blackmailing someone about jaywalking in New York.
