### Kanji Learning Utility (for Excel)

The NoName Kanji Program is a little project of mine to help me (and other people) learn to visualize kanji, and remember how many strokes they have. Please feel free to download it and try it out.

### RE: Kanji Learning Utility (for Excel)

How do I get the stroke order font to display in the "last kanji" window? I have the font in C:\windows\fonts and in the directory in which the excel file is located, but I'm still getting some other font displayed there.

Did you install the font _before_ starting Excel? It won't work if you start Excel first then install the font.

OK, I see it now, but it's only half there - it isn't centered in the Last Kanji box, but rather offset half a character to the left. With the previous font, it was centered.

Can you do me a screen shot? And is that with the file 'freshly unzipped' or did you save it after it displayed with the wrong font?

Hmm, the only way I can get it to do that on my machine is to put a space _after_ the kanji in that cell. a) Check the kanji is the only thing in that cell and b) See what happens if you change the alignment (it should be 'center' as, but try 'left' and 'right' to see what happens).

This is with Microsoft Office Excel 2003. With General, Left Indent, Justify, and Fill, it displays slightly to the right of center of the box, but completely within it. With Center, it's the way it is in the screenshot. With Right Indent, it's out of the box completely. With Distributed Indent, the right edge of the character is outside the box. I can't find a setting which centers it horizontally in the box.

Minor Update: Now has a different 'beep' for correct vs incorrect answers. Also fixed that 変換ミス that oyaji pointed out.

Note that you can export/import scores so you don't lose all your progress.

I also experienced seeing only half the kanji. After spacing it visible, the problem reoccurred when I moved to the next question. Changing the alignment didn't work either, but decreasing the font size helped me see the whole kanji, at least.

Disregarding the bug, this is a great job! Very impressive.

Hmm, you mean after putting a space _before_ the kanji in the cell it was visible?

What version of Excel do you and Rich have? (It _Looks_ like Excel 2003 ...)

The screenshot Rich put up looks exactly like it does in mine except for the 'Last Kanji' box so I'm having trouble working out what to change to fix it. What I've done is make the box larger while keeping the font size the same. (I haven't uploaded the change though as it's pretty minor and I don't even know if it will work).

Missed that post.

Well next time I put an update up we'll see if the larger box size does the trick.

Questions 43 and 44: Don't you think you should separate them a bit? Same sentence, different kanji removed.
