Handwriting (Hiragana)
Handwriting (Hiragana)
Hey, I've been meaning to do this for a while now. I just want to make sure people can read my handwriting (in Japanese, duh).
It's just two lines of lyrics from a song called Yume de aru youni by Deen. It's Hiragana only, as my knowledge of Kanji is still very limited.
If there are unnecessary spaces, it's because of the way I got it on to my computer.
First I wrote it on a piece of paper, then placed the paper on my graphics tablet and traced it on to the tablet.
The last time I tried to use my scanner, I sent it via e-mail to my laptop but the e-mail didn't arrive.
Anyway here it is.

I think your かs look too square-ish. Almost like katakana カs with an extra stroke. Try making it rounder.

Not bad, considering it's freehand. Using practice sheets will help you get spacing and sizing more consistant.
Your かs are too angular. Other than that, I didn't see any real problems.

Thanks. I've tried making my か's more round, but I can't do it for some reason or they just don't look right. I'll keep practicing though.
One more thing, I've memorized most Hiragana but I'm having a really big problem with Katakana. I have no idea why, it's kinda weird.

RE: Handwriting (Hiragana)
If you learn words along with it it makes it easier; with katakana this is extra easy because you already know most of the words written in that script.
(BTW, you should save things in something else other than BMP -- 1.8 megs is a pretty big size for just a picture file like that.)

Care to exhibit the evidence to back up your claim?shikaze wrote:

Yes, a little evidence would be nice. And I haven't written much in Japanese since the end of November, just been busy working, shopping for presents, etc. So this is really the first time in about 2 months, and I only really switched from Romaji (I know...EVIL) in November aswell. Plus my handwriting in English is quite bad...lol.richvh wrote:Care to exhibit the evidence to back up your claim?shikaze wrote:

In fact I think my handwriting is neater in Japanese than in English

RE: Handwriting (Hiragana)
At one point, I used to have both hiragana and katakana memorized, and I could at least draw them(how accurately, I've got no idea).
Bad thing was, I finally realized that yep - kanji IS used in Japanese, and I think my motivation fell through the floor once I found out how many there were, and the uncertainties on pronounciation/meanings(from an English speaker's viewpoint of course, not saying it's hard for everyone, nor saying it's easy for everyone...just that it's dang-difficult for me).
So after that point, I left off of it for a while, just reading kana wherever I saw it, and occasionally trying to pick out the few easy kanji I knew. I've kinda forgotten some kana ever since. :(

RE: Handwriting (Hiragana)
I have the same problem. I can write the hirigana in any order you ask me to, in words, etc. katakana I can often recognize in things, but if I sit down and try to write them out, I draw a huge blank. They look waaaay too similar to me. The only hirigana that ever really got me wereneo2407 wrote:

たに、and れわね
katakana, however strangely, is another matter entirely.
ンャmシツ
フワクヌ
ラテ
ナメ
some of them are more decipherable in this font than any other books, but still.... aargh!

RE: Handwriting (Hiragana)
I had the same issue, yet memorized 13 of them in 15 minutes last night. No clue how that worked. Of course, they are the easy ones. Perhaps because I was also learning the words themselves at the same time in the context of time.MGNSMG wrote:

一二三四五六七八九助S千円 were my first 13
The two I tried to memorize this morning, though... POOF! I can remember how they look, but not how they are pronounced.
