かくして、彼が獣の目を見て、「ああ！」と言った。
Thus, he looked into the eyes of the beast and said, "AHH!".
Well, what do y'all think? This is the first time I've ever really messed with quotes. Also, would 覗き込んで or 見て work better here?

It would help if you let us know which way you are trying to translate -- from funky Japanese to funky English, or from funky English to funky Japanese.
