I have a pretty good grasp on hiragana and katakana so I got the japanese for busy people book, the kana version and I cant read it fine and everything but I dont understand really what it wants me to do for practice and stuff. If someone who has this book could explain it to me maybe I would get it. wow I feel liek a retard asking about this.

i don't use the japanese for busy people textbooks, but i do know they come with workbooks. do you have the workbooks? if not, then yeah, you're probably missing some valuable exercise activities....

i've flipped through the japanese for busy people textbook in bookstores, and i honestly don't care for it. but then again, if you're not in a classroom but still in the market for a textbook, i guess the price is right. just be sure to buy the kana version. romaji won't get you very far in japan.

I personally adored the series. It is more of a broken down version of beginner to intermediate Japanese that dedicates more room to exercises. I'm not sure I understand your question. In every chapter there are literally 50+ practice questions and quizzes with the answers in the back. You simply read the dialogue in every chapter, then the following grammar and lecture notes, and then practice what you like.

I think it's a really good book. I havee it, and what you need to do is:
When it asks you to replace the underlined word with [whatever it says], look at the words under the sentence labeled 1. 2. or 3. and replace them with the underlined word in the sentence. This exercise helps you to be able to recognize different uses for the sentences they give you.
It's alright if you don't get at first; it took me until Lesson 2 to understand what it meant.
Also... to check your answers, flip to the back with the answers and check them.
