糞像はどんな意味？
糞：excrement (of an animal)
像：image, figure

Tried using Wakan & JEdict... no help.. I found it in my japanese bible... Ezekiel 14:3...

Now how about giving the verse from your bible; perhaps you misread a kanji?

くそ doesn't have to refer to actual excrement. It's often used as a prefix to show general disdain. Considering how Jehovah felt about graven images, it doesn't surprise me that the Bible calls them 糞像.

Edit: the above notwithstanding, I think the Bible is copyrighted in Japan, meaning there's only one version. If that's true (確認？) then it's more likely that the OP just misread 偶像 (see below).

です。

念のため、「日本聖書協会」の新共同訳は

エゼキエル書 / 14章 3節
「人の子よ、この人々は偶像を心に抱き、彼らをつまずかせる罪を目の前に置いている。それなのに、わたしは彼らの求めに応じられようか。

口語訳は

「人の子よ、これらの人々は、その偶像を心の中に持ち、罪に落しいれるところのつまずきを、その顔の前に置いている。わたしはどうして彼らの願いをいれることができようか。

他にも、糞像(偶像)は14:5,14:6.14:7でも出てきますので、「日本聖書協会」に電話で問い合わせてみました。
すると「偶像に蔑みの意味を込めて糞像と訳したことがかつてあった、と聞いている」とのこと。 日本聖書協会の訳ではないそうですが、昭和初期(〜1935)までは、その言葉(糞像)が使われていたものがみられたそうです。その聖書は旧約のみならず新約でも「糞像」が使われている可柏ｫが高いと思われます。ただし、PDFの上の部分は、「偶像を礼拝する者たちは退けられる」になっている点が、やや奇妙でもあります。発行元がわかれば、いつ頃訳したものか電話で確認してみますが、現在の聖書としては「偶像」が使われるのが一般的です。

ググルには他の例もありますけど、そのページには文字通りでクモﾌ像という意味です。

I noticed 糞像 is used in Bible of "Watchtower" even now.
糞像 seems to be used as an insulting of 偶像. But it is not common word.

「日本聖書刊行会」でも差別語修正のために、わりと最近、改訂版を出したんですが、私が持っているのは改定前のもので「偶像」でした。
