　日本語訳を見ると、ごく普通の文章ですが、
　私の目からこの英文を見ると、すごく失礼な言い方に見えてしまいます。

　失礼な阜ｻですか？普通の阜ｻですか？

　お願いします。

pet n. 1. an animal that is tamed or domesticated and kept as a companion or treated with fondness 2. a person who is treated with particular affection or indulgence; favorite; darling

You're thinking in terms of sense 1, and teacher's pet is an example of sense 2. It's extremely common, and not overly impolite.

Please don't use that sentence translated literally into Japanese,
even if you were thinking in terms of sense 2.
It's a guranteed that misunderstandings will happen.

One thing at a time, starts with some simple example sentences first. (一つ一つ,最初にシンプルな例文で始めます。)

I can do/I am able to do

Remember, sometimes it also depends on how the question being asked. For example:

A: Can you tell the difference?
B: Yes, I can tell the difference.

A: Are you able to tell the difference?
B: Yes, I am able to tell the difference.

X: Can you teach Mathematics?
Y: Yes, I can teach Mathematics.

X: Are you able to teach Mathematics?
Y: Yes, I am able to teach Mathematics.

If you are writing an essay half way, for instance, pondering on : I can bake a nice cake or I am able to bake a nice cake, both sentences are ok. (Make sense?)


Modal Alixiliary Verbs - Must/Have to (managed to dig out my old notebook)

1. We use “must” to show what is necessary or to show a strong likelihood.
Example:
She must be sick if she did not attend such an important meeting.
John must be almost eighty years old now.

2. We use “must” to show something we are very certain about.
Example:
It’s getting late, I really must go.

3. We sometimes use “must” and “have to” to show obligation or compulsion.
Example:
Alex must do what his father says.
The children have to return home before 2pm.

4. We can change “have to” to the Past or Future Tenses but we cannot do that to “must”
Example:
She had to call the plumber because her toilet overflowed.
He will have to stay in bed if he is sick.

5(i). We can form the negative of “must” by adding “not”
Example:
We must not dirty the classroom.

5(ii). We can from the negative of “have to” with “do not”
Example:
You do not have to attend the meeting today

6(i) We put “must” in front of a noun or a pronoun to make a question.
Example:
Must I play the piano on that day ?

6(ii) As for “have to”, we form the question with “do”
Example
Do you have to wash all the plates ?


I will do .... / I am going to ....
This one is not easy to understand even for English speakers.

I've discussed with Zen-san and here are some example sentences:

>> depending on context and rest of sentence, maybe right now, maybe later, maybe tomorrow.

* I am going to the store. == now
* I will go to the store and then to the party. == now
* After I wake up, I willl go to the store and then to the party. == later
* Next weekend, I will go to the store and then to the party." == next weekend(sorta planning.)
* What will you do next weekend?" -- "I'll go to the store and then to the party." == next weekend.

* I will sleep after I take a shower
* I am gong to sleep (really, right now i'm crawling into bed and my eyes are closing .....)
or "I'm going to sleep" (turn off the computer and crawl into bed)

The car is out of order. ←×間違い
This computer / telephone is out of order. ← ○正しい

"note PC" や　"cell-phone" に　"out of order"　を使うのは間違いですか？
間違いか正しいか分からない場合は、"doesn't work", " broken"を使えば問題無いでしょうか？

I think it's simply that "out of order" is used mainly for public facilities. An escalator, a public phone, an elevator, a fire escape are out of order. A private phone, a car, the microwave oven in your kitchen are not "out of order".

確か、「out of order」は公用の措置につける阜ｻなんでしょう。エスカレーターやエレベーターや公用電話や避難階段なら、使えます。私用電話や自動車や電子レンジなら、使えないでしょう。

"broken"か"not working"でしょう。

（ところで、英語で"note PC"じゃなくて"laptop"というのは普通です。"notebook"か"notebook computer"も時々聞こえますけど。)
