Fencing...and I guess Kendo too...but more Fencing
Hey I fence. Do you fence? Do you like fencing?
I was also wondering if any one knew how fencing is in Japan or if it is unheard of and only kendo exists.
Oh and if you don't know what fencing is heres a wikipedia entry

I was invited to a kendojo with a friend in Japan, they let me warm up, but didn't let me do any kata.. good thing, cause after the invisible chair (where you place your back against a wall and slide down into a seated position with legs at a 90 bent..) for 7 mins, I wasn't ready for much else.. lol
In my current shape, I might be able to do it for 30secs.. lol

My friend knows about it.

I've fenced a couple times, but it just wasn't my thing, ya know?

Foil and Sabre, but it's been half a lifetime ago. Opted to keep up my archery instead.

Never used an epee. I see a couple of you have. I wonder what I've been missing.

Mike-san's friend is very helpful. It never ceases to amaze me how many people ask questions on internet forums when the answer they seek is so simple for them to find on the internet. If you're not sure how have a look here. Or listen to Bart.
As for me, I prefer fencing on a bigger scale such as this one and this one.
Don't complain to me that people kick you when you're down. It's your own fault for lying there

That's like the Great Wall only for Dingos.

Lindy Chamberlain may disagree with you on that one

As fencees go, ... This looks painful. Of course, you also have fences. And this kind...
I've always wanted to take up kendo.

Sometimes I think that I'm afraid of thinking, and that scares me.

It's funny you should say that. There is a television commercial here for an ISP (BigPond) and a boy doing his homework asks his father why they built the Great Wall of China and the father tells him it was to keep the rabbits out.

I'm going to start a fencing class at my college soon. I'm really excited!! Kendo sounds fun too... but I don't think they offer it where I live... sad...
