Hello! / Bonjour!
Hey gang! I just discovered this site this week while I was rummaging around the Web for Japanese learning resources. It looks great and I feel I'll be able to pull it off with a litle patience and hard work. I'm lucky enough my job requires me to sit down at a computer all day, so I'll try to keep up with the forums and keep on doodling hiragana in my notebook while the boss isn't looking!
Anyway, I look forward to sharing the learning process with you guys. And if anyone needs help connecting Japanese with French, just ask and I'll be glad to help as much as I'm able.

Goals:
1) Have decent proficiency in Japanese, enough to get around/talk/read/write.
2) Visit Japan for a week or so one summer.

I don't mean to be mean but no one else gave a explanation on why its こんにちは instead of こんいちわ its because there is a rule about ha and wa and particles or something. correct me if im wrong, just trying to be helpful:)white-chocolate-twix wrote:

RE: Hello! / Bonjour!
when わ is used for a particle it's spelt (that's not the right word but anyways..) は. Why, I'm not sure, maybe someone else knows.
