RE: first anime you have watched
Doraemon, I guess. But the first anime that I really pay attention to ( I mean I really can't miss it) was Kung Fu Boy when I was 7 or 8

The first anime I ever watched was Pokemon (although at the time I didn't ever think of it as anime) the 2nd was Digimon then Card Captor Sakura and then Kanon (the 2006 remake) and finally a few months ago I started watching Naruto, which is so far the best anime I have seen. ^_^

Pokemon! Duh! Oh, I should say ポケットモンスター
Oh and Card Captor Sakura was pretty good too. That's カードキャプターさくら for the puritists. I've watched that a lot. Pretty sad how that the story ends huh? Then theres a time skip...it should have ended before the time-skip so they'd be kids forever.
The first anime I took the initative to see was Trigun. The first manga I took the iniative to get into was Crest of the Stars.

Trigun. Only the best anime ever, and the only anime that I'll watch.

Gatchaman, only Stateside it was known as G-Force (aka Battle of the Planets). It was like a mistreated stepchild of the uncut version but it was still good despite their best attempts to mutilate it. Never liked the robotic Keeyop and 7 Zark 7...feh. Knew something wasn't right about that setup even back then.

First I watched?! Oy.. thinking back to the early 80s...
I remember I used to watch the The Little Prince and Bell and Sebastian on Nickelodeon every day. Transformers, if you're going to consider them, were a big part of my childhood. Also, Voltron.
And then there was this one movie that used to be on Disney Channel quite a lot. It was about a little unicorn... rather dark film, it was. Would like to see it again. If only I could figure out the name of the movie. And, no, it wasn't The Last Unicorn.
Ah, now we're talkin'. For a minute there I was starting to feel VERY old reading this thread.
I used to love watching the Little Prince and later on Voltron (I prefered the cats to the cars, their storyline and villans were far better). I also remember Unico. As a matter of fact, you can actually find the movie on YouTube Unico and the Island of Magic...I remember renting this over and over. I can't believe someone uploaded it to YT. Thought you'd enjoy the trip down memory lane.

I hated Kimba. There also was Robotech and Captain Harlock and Queen Millenia and Captain Future, of course. And I remember Samurai Pizza Cats, too.
I never realized those were Anime, all I knew was, they weren't better than the Thundercats.
And there was the "Heidi"-Comic... I never understood why they were trapped in these mountains, while others had the hole universe.

The very first one was Dragonball, actually, but the anime I fell in love with first was Sailor Moon all the way.
I still love that show and I haven't seen an episode in years.
