Linux screensaver
I made a simple Unix screensaver that displays kanji and their meanigns and/or kana and their pronounciations. The list of kana/kanji is easily extensible.
It is based on Python and sould work for all X11-based platforms that use xscreensaver. (i.e. Linux, BSD,...)
If enough people are interested I can clean it up, package it and publish for free download.
Let me know what you think.

Wow, that sounds great!
Er... Given the relationship of Unix and Mac OS X, is it possible for you to make a version for Mac OS X available...?

I guess Ill pick up the ball the thread-starter dropped.
If you want a hiragana/katakana screensaver here you are:
Windows Users: http://www.thejapanesepage.com/downloads/KanaSeBa.zip
Unix/Linux Users:
http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=16792
Mac Users:
Couldnt find a damn thing. Sorry.
I personally dont understand the need for a hiragana/katakana screensaver, if you are at your computer to use the screensaver, you might as well use one of the widely available flashcard programs floating around. But hey, at least the makes you look cool ;-P
