Like...I really am just highly amused by all of this xDKagemaru wrote:
The videos I watched I thought it amusing she often makes reference to:

I've been looking at several of her other videos, and I just can't stop laughing.
She's way too intense.

But I wouldn't call her fluent, she stutters too much.
And makes little mistakes like saying "Florida's weather is so beautiful, so New York is better" (instead of "so it's better than New York"--the accidental inclusion of an unneeded が can have drastic effects on meaning!)
And she uses 恋しい way too much. And ends some sentences with にゃ which makes her sound Korean (as I said a few times already

I've met lots of people just like her in Japan. In fact, she has the traits of a long-term Japan resident already:
a) Confident, with extremely dodgy Japanese.
b) Totally insane
She'll fit in well when she gets there eventually

I kept waiting for something intense, but she just sat there talking.

I was thinking the same thing.
It must be a gimmick.

I don't really think she was being condescending... the impression I got was that she was adopting some eccentric behavior to try to add some humor to the videos. I mean, I think all of her videos having the "Intense (bowling, japanese, etc)" theme is kind of a tipoff.
And the Youtube comments, as usual, fill me with INTENSE fear about the youth of America. Although I guess I have to be fair - sometimes I see a rage-filled unintelligible comment and check the user's ID and he's supposedly in his 20's or 30's. So who knows.

She sounds like such a braggart, like the kid in grade school whose daddy always bought her the coolest stuff. "Well I can speak fluent JapaNESE so" blah blah blah. Though it's wonderful to be able to understand and speak at the pace she is going, this girl seems like she's running fast with it to show off to someone.
No good.
No good.

I can't believe some people can learn a language from music and tv alone. I'm kind of jealous of her for that.

Quick rule-of-thumb for everyone: If someone themselves says they speak fluent Japanese, they don't

I wasn't implying that she IS Korean based on her speaking style, I meant her accent didn't sound like an American speaking Japanese, or a Japanese person speaking Japanese, but a Korean person speaking Japanese.
I had a few Korean classmates that sounded EXACTLY like her!

Heh. I recently found and began watching her videos. Perhaps I have an odd sense of humour, but I find most of them to be amusing, if not a bit creepy. I certainly wouldn't say she's being arrogant though, and she never claimed to be fluent.
Even I caught a lot of mistakes in her Japanese. However, at least she isn't afraid of getting out there and using the language - something which many foreign language students tend to neglect (even myself, to an extent.)

Well the first video didn't impress my much... good pronunciation but "today I ate an apple" isn't exactly something to wow to.
Then I saw the others videos, well she's not bad at all, I think, anyway much better than me
.
More that intense she trusts very much her japanese and that's good for her.
