RE: Japanese e-mail server......
huh?
i think you might mean something more like "web based email from a Japanese provider."
there is no such thing as a "Japanese e-mail server", nor a "Russian e-mail server", nor a "Greek e-mail server".
there are only 'e-mail' servers. various languages and their character sets have been 'plain old vanilla email' for ages and ages.
i haven't played with anything other than Gmail, but Gmail will handle Japanese or any other language with equal ease. so maybe i just don't get what you're asking for....

@kdar: Gmail really does work well for East Asian text. You could also try mail.yahoo.co.jp and click on "Yahoo JAPAN ID を取得" if you really want an interface that makes you use your mad kanji skills.

you mean japan based email servers?
The real question is --Why? Where an email is based is irrelevant, all that matters is whether the code set works with your language.

He is probably just looking for the "cool factor" of having an e-mail address with ".jp" on the end of it. Or perhaps wants it to facilitate perpetrating the fraud of pretending he is in Japan when he isn't.
Never underestimate my capacity for pettiness.
RE: Japanese e-mail server......
yahoo.co.jp, hotmail.co.jp, goo.ne.jp and so on?

In my personal opinion, http://www.yahoo.co.jp is pretty good.
When the sky cries, why are we happy?
RE: Japanese e-mail server......
Does it matter? For some reason, I ended up having a Yahoo! Singapore account, and it doesn't do anything "special", really - I just have .sg at the end of the address.

RE: Japanese e-mail server......
Some time it does..
.com e-mail not always accepts e-mail with different extension. And other extensions not always accept e-mail from other extensions.
That was the case with some my Russian accounts. I was trying to send e-mail from my yahoo.com e-mail and it didn't work.
Something with Japanese e-mail (some)

AH HAHAHA! I know what you mean. Before when I was... so new to TJP and anything Japanese I made a random email with .jp. I don't use it though.Mike Cash wrote:

I also asked my Japanese friend how to say something vulgar for my email I don't use. It was hilarious!!

RE: Japanese e-mail server......
A few years ago I used a yahoo.co.jp address. I thought I was pretty cool.
Then I realized Yahoo Japan was adding a message about breast cancer and pink ribbons to the bottom of every message I sent.

RE: Japanese e-mail server......
For example.. One of my Japanese friend gived her cell phone e-mail.
I was trying to send to her e-mails from my yahoo.com and its didn't worked.
My friend was also trying to send from her e-mail to mine yahoo.com.
But guess what... When I created japanese e-mail. And sended e-mail to my friend. My friend got it and was able to send stuff back.
That not because of "cool factor"... lol
