Hiya!

Postby fated » Fri 08.19.2005 1:49 pm

Finally a site that provides free learning about japanese....
it took me almost a year looking for books and websites that really suits me
and now i found one, a website that is all i need now is a good book to help me learn one of the most interesting language i've been wanting to learn.

fated here guys and gals... i'm a male by the way... hajimimashite (have i used this right?)
right now i'm still trying to understand hiragana then next would be kana... and after learning both i guess i'll try to practice some words or vocab and at the same time practice kanji's eventhough it is really intimidating to learn kanji(coz i just found out that it has almost a thousand characters) but who says learning was easy right?

anyway bye for now..... i hope i could join you on your study group but i guess i should memorize gana and kana first.... byers!

はじめしてとがんばって!:)
Goals:
1) Have decent proficiency in Japanese, enough to get around/talk/read/write.
2) Visit Japan for a week or so one summer.

:)Hajimemashite, yoroshiku one gaishimasu.

A word of warning - I don't want to put you off, but I think you should be adequately prepared. Whoever informed you that there are "almost a thousand kanji" underestimated it slightly. There are actually 1946 kanji required for everyday use, ie. reading newspapers etc. For specialist use there are many thousands more, although it isn't really necessary to go into these much.

Don't let this intimidate you, once you get started it soon becomes easier, and far more enjoyable than you would have realised.

Welcome to the site!
I find it really useful to. I've already learned hiragana and katakana and am working on kanji... It's easier to think of it as words instead of an alphabet (this may not make sense, but think about it- kanji makes up most of the nouns and adjectives in the japanese language. Doesn't 2000 (give or take) words sound just a bit better than a 2000-letter alphabet?)
I had alot of other things to say, but none of them made sense- even to me.
gambatte shashite o yasumi! (It's 2am where I am, and I'm TIRED- so if this post makes no sense, that's why.)
BoA rocks! :D
