Okay. What exactly does 好き mean? I know it's used to say "I like", but what really?

"Can you see going to the party?" I guess "seeing" is used a bit differently than its literal meaning, so of course it wouldn't work. It was a try, though.


I was just making use of kanji that I knew without really knowing how to put a complicated sentence together. I guess that's what this forum is for.

好き (adj-na,n) liking, fondness, love, (P)
So yeah, it pretty much means "I like" or something along those lines.

That sentence right there doesn't make much sense in English...

ケーキ not ケーク. When typing words in katakana type in as normal (hiragana) and then henkan (spacebar). If it's spelled correctly it will turn to katakana, if not it will be a mess.

e.g. けーく → ケー句.

That's _not_ foolproof but it can help.

Of course the obvious one is "use a dictionary".

It's too early in the morning for me to think so that might be wrong.

I still don't know what that is supposed to mean. Is it like "Is there any possibility you will go to the party"?

This looks like a good time to repeat the fact that Japanese idiom is not the same as English idiom, and that we say things differently.
