Hi to all!
I think our beloved Coco-san is willing to help us with a special listening session this sunday. As usual, we'll have a good time and learn a lot of stuff so... who will join us?

How about [utc]2007/04/01 12:00 GMT[/utc] ?
Coco-san, is it good for you?

Bye to all!

I will do my best to make it, but I have a Japanese exam the following day worth 40% of my semester mark so I will probably be either asleep or cramming specific Kanji into my head over and over, so I may not. :(

Look at the link txkun posted with the date. For Singapore, it's 20:00 (Sunday).

The listening was great, and quite funny too. It was difficult for everyone. We have to go to the end of the song, anyway, if it's ok with cocosan.
Stop joking about my listening score, since I do feel like an impostor on that one and still have to look at the paper to believe that! :o

>Txkun,
I checked your results, but you didn't break them into the three parts, so it's quite difficult to know if it is the listening which is a problem...

Anything you listen to with a chance to check if you understood what you're listening to is useful, provided the characters do speak in a manner that you'll meet in the test (that why I would not recommend anime or chambara, though there are useful bits in chambara). I watch movies, Jdramas with subtitles, and so I check if and what I understand or not; it may sound silly because I don't know if I understand the little I understand because I know what is being said and I recognize it, or if I would have understood it anyway. It seemed to have worked for me, though I don't know if it's reproductable.

I know we don't have subtitles the day of the test :D but it helps for getting the ear used to japanese, the rythm and accent.

Two more things that I didn't remember immediatly, becaus enot very exciting : I listened to the recording of Minna no nihongo I during transportations in november (tedious, but quite close to the test in some parts) and I did as many past tests (audio) as I could get my hands on.
Hope this will be useful!

Thanks for the tips, caroline-san. I'll see if I can get some JDramas from my local anime store. By the way, I think you totally deserved your score, especially after seeing your skills on Sunday's session. :)

I'm game for continuing the song. When shall we meet again?

Hope I won't get banned for reviving an old thread, now I don't know :D

but we should go on with our listening session....
I'm quite hopeless for setting a chat session :o, as I would not know how to do that.

But Tanuki and Txkun, you sure can do something about it...

As usually, given my time zone, any hour suiting cocosan - whom we indeed need -would be nice for me.

So, it's up to you, boys....
