Geekiness test level I
Hello!
This is geekiness test level I. This is an easy level (as far as geekiness goes).
Solve this integral and tell us what it means:
(Note: If you don't actually know what an integral is, but you investigate and solve it, you get extra points.)

what's the answer? Did somebody delete a post I didn't read
The answer is 42 and damn I wish my math classes would go back to this level >=D
I actually have a test in differential equations tomorrow about Laplace conversions. And I still have another damn math class before I manage to graduate. Curse you, engineering requirements!

You want us to solve it? I think the answer is 46, but I usually screw up simple mathmatics, so I proabably screwed up somewhere >.<
Edit - Wow, so 4^2 doesn't equal 8... does it? Yeah, 42.

sigh, nobody caught my HHGTTG reference... therefore you all fail the second question of the geekiness test.

I originally thought it was HHGTTG, but then I got an answer of 46, and thought I missed something. And then when I changed my answer to 42 I totally forgot. >.<
College is over for the semester, my brain has obviously stopped working xD

All I see is gobbledygook. I guess that makes me cool. Or dumb as a doornail. Or too lazy to look it up, solve it and redeem myself.

Solve this integral and tell us what it means:
I was not aware that having paid attention throughout the course of my higher learning and having done some occasional extracurricular reading qualified one me for being a geek. Perhaps when you're done mislabeling things you'll find the time to look up the correct definition of geek.

You're complaining about math requirements for an engineering degree? To your benefit, that's one step farther from being completely irrational than a mathematics major doing the same. You should appreciate the effort your university to going through to provide you with an engineering education worth a damn.
If it's Laplace you have an issue with, consider how much more difficult the whole of physical sciences would be without the use of such transforms. Without the ease of such systems we would likely be years behind in electronic communication and you wouldn't be able to say such things on the internet.
Yours truly,

RE: Geekiness test level I
We've never been shown practical use for Laplace transformations; too busy trying to keep up with the curriculum. And I can't think of any usefulness behind it myself. The only use I've ever seen for 3000 and 4000 level math courses, as far as Computer Science is concerned, is that it makes 1000 and 2000 level courses easier in comparison

The real test was the HHGTG reference, which you obviously failed.
But, やっぱり, zen-san had no problem whatsoever.
