JLPT Level 4 Vocabulary List Help and Advice needed
Hello guys!
After reading what's needed in the JLPT Level 4 guide, it is stated that you need to know 800 words plus 100 kanji.
Currently I'm studying the 700 words vocabulary list from kanji-a-day but after googling a little bit I've found that the vocabulary lists for level 4 are always around 672 words (sometimes 689) but always less or equal to 700.
Also the Meguro Center states that you need to know 800 but it only provides a 679 words vocabulary list.
Since I'm almost finishing my 700 words vocabulary list study I was wondering if there is really a "true" 800 words vocabulary list... I mean what's the point about stating that you need to know 800 words when you only get less than 700?
Thanks in advance for your help and advice.

Don't worry, the 4 kyuu test is super easy, I'm sure you'll ace it. I personally am going to get a smack in the face, I'm just going straight for the 1 kyuu if/when I deciide to take the JLPT.

Brave guys. O_O I want to give the 2 a shot before I'd attempt the 1... just to know what I'm getting myself into. ^_^ Perhaps I should take the 3 or 4, to give myself some confidence instead. :D

my god.....I can't believe the incredible difference between 3 and 2 lol....from 300 kanji to 1000!? Daaaamn.
I thought I read somewhere on this site that even knowing 2000-3000 kanji isn't known by a lot of native japanese lol....wow what a test.....unfortunately I tend to fold under pressure

The BIG difference between 2 and 3 is mostly what's got me confused about which test to take... I know I've studied more than 300... but I haven't quite reached 1000. ):

Unless you need some kind of proof of your Japanese ability within the next year, take a shot at 2kyuu. It can't hurt to see how you fare at the next level.

That's what I was leaning towards... I feel like it'd either be an easy-pass of level three, or an actual challenge to take level 2. =I I'd rather test myself instead of just getting an easy-pass.
Though, I probably won't get around to it yet again this year. -_- Distance, money, etc are factoring in.

I know the sticky at the top said "Click here for more information" regarding the JLPT, but it was rather vague about where to find it located in, in my case, the US...I see you're going to be taking it Kates, so I assume that you can find it at any major university that offers the language or what?
Only a crappy local college around here =/ So I think I'd have to drive rather far if I wanted to find and take that test....around $50 for the test not to mention god knows how much for gas considering it's $2.75 for the cheapest gas here

i'll have to drive from kansas city to chicago to take the jlpt this december, and somehow, the windy city doesn't sound like a very ideal place to visit in the dead of winter.... is anyone else here planning to take the test who doesn't exactly live near one of the eight testing cities?

Wow I just wasn't sure lol...I didn't read that it said only 8 in the US on his little description of the test...or maybe I just misread it or glanced over it or something....either way thanks for clearing that up lol, I was way off.Actually... Lucky me though....it's located at the closest University I figured I'd have to resort to anyway lol.....I live in southern california (as if you couldn't read that on the side
