The kanji question : do we assume that we already know the 181 (more or less) of them, or shall we start with for instance the first line? I sure am short of more than a few. Thanks, coco-san for the list and good idea for kikitori.

As for the date : I leave that to those who are on extreme in regard to GMT, which is not my case. Be it too soon, my computer has collapsed again so I don't know when I'll be able to join a chat or type in japanese....

Wow, there are a lot of kanji I don't know from that list. There are also many I can recognize from usual compounds but I don't know their individual meanings. For example, I knew 銀 from 銀行 but I didn't know it was "silver".

In other words, I would be more open to the "line" approach rather than the "whole" approach...

Coco-san, I can hear the ひ very clearly in the Koi Nobori listening comprehension practice. Yumi-san has a very clear accent.

English and most European languages are much more modulated. Japanese sounds like a blurred monotone to us. A good speaker like Yumi-san sounds like a string of pearls, a harsh male speaker sounds like a machine gun.

It's really not as bad as it looks. When you start learning 'em, they will start popping up everywhere. At least, that was the case for me.

I'm looking at learning 500+ kanji for the summer. That should be fun.

When spring comes, all (kind of) flowers bloom.

There are fireflies everywhere when summer comes.
夏が来ると、いたる所でホタルを見ることができます。(なつがくると、いたるところでホタルをみることができます。)

1. 春になると、花はみんな咲いている。
season になると、S + V(present tense) is a basic form, I think.
Generally 春になると is used during 秋 to 冬. So it not appropriate to use てform here because て form expresses "continuing action" at the present of telling(= when the speaker have spoken).

春になると、(すべての)花が咲く。
When spring comes, all (kind of) flowers bloom. (?)
春になると、花がみんな咲く。
are simple.

4. 冬になると、昼はだんだん短くなってきました。
same てform　problem. If you 'd like 短くなってきました,
冬になったので、昼(が/は)だんだん短くなってきました。would be fine.
Daytime is getting shorter since winter has come. (?)

If you'd like to use 冬になると, 昼がだんだん短くなります。would work as a general consideration.
We also use 日が長くなる/日が短くなる.
日 itself has a meaning of "daytime".
In this context, I prefer 日 rather than 昼.
冬になると、日がだんだん短くなります。

Hmm.. Guys, I don't whether if I post this would be out of topic or not? Anyway, here is my question: I got back my recent test from my Japanese school, however I did very badly, indeed too bad that I had became panick that I might fail my next test. Hence, would like to ask whether is there anything that will be helpful to me. Therefore, hoping to have some recommendations from you guys, preferably books or newspapers.

The selfish part is butting into someone else's conversation and expecting them to stop what they were doing and pay attention to you instead.

It's also generally considered rude to ignore friendly advice.

Go read the faq before presenting your opinion that common standards of ettiquitedon't apply to you.
