I made the mistake of not getting enough of it at the airport exchange "shop" and wasted at least a day trying to get money out of some local 7-11 type ATMs. Only to learned that local atms are for Japanese banks and you gotta go to a international bank's atm to get money from an American bank account..another day wasted!!!

Did not have this problem in Costa Rica so who would have thought such a silly system existed in Japan LOL

I heard that they sometimes pass out tissues in public places a lot. There's something I want to say about the tissues in Japan, but I totally forgot. I think it's for extra sanitation, unlike American unless they are trying to get you to buy a product, and to help reduce illnesses because certain cities and places can be kind of... gross.

Another thing you'd need in Japan is just your basic smarts. I mean, you don't want to go off and do something STUPID. Like unprotected sex to bring up the whole condoms thing...

The tissue packets they hand out have little advertising slips in them. At least, I'm pretty sure that's what they are, I couldn't read much of what was written on them. So, I think it's just a promotional device rather than consideration for people's hygiene.
