I used that same sentence when speaking to a japanese person, and they said 独学で is better than 一人で.

juddcarlos2003, I'm not really sure how to pronounce that...I love the way I ask a question and get a bunch of different answers though. Best thing about this site.

I guess you could use either one... 学んでいます is more like "I'm learning" and 勉強しています is like "I'm studying"
I would go with 学んでいます because you are learning something... but like I said... I guess you can use either one.
Would anyone else know which would sound more practical?
(学んでいます or 勉強しています)
