Tsukihime Translation

Hi there, I'm in the process of translating Tsukihime and I'm having trouble putting the vocabulary together so that it makes sense. I have to guess a lot and I wanted to make sure I wasn't guessing incorrectly.

Here are the sentences:

Hajime ni kenetamo no wa tenkei.
(I translated this as, "At the start I was looking at the ceiling, but I don't know what "kenetamo" means or if it's even one word, I had to guess because I couldn't find it in my dictionary)

Kai fuku omedetou (this is a doctor talking to Touno Shike-kun about his recovery?)
(I can't make head or tail of this one, something about time and recovery, perhaps the length of his recovery or "congratulations on your recovery"?)

If anyone can figure out what these two sentences mean and tell me how far off I am, I'd really appreciate it! No spoilers please

I think your first sentence has some typos in it. Are you sure that's right? Tenkei is "divine revelation" or "epitome" kenetamo... I've never heard that before. There aren't any words that even start with kene. Do you have the original kanji? That often helps alot.

You split up the words. kaifuku is one word - recovery.
Your last translation was correct. "congratulations on your recovery"

Oops, it's not Tenkei, it's Tenjou I wrote it down wrong, no wonder it didn't make sense. Okay, here's the first sentence as it's written in the manga.

見えたものは 天井

Kaifuku, ok, that makes things easier, I need to start making sure I'm writing correctly from now on heheh.

Oh okay, so my translation wasn't too far off, I just wrote the words down incorrectly. Thank you for your help!

I think it will be much easier if you use japanese rather than romaji hehe because thats where it seems u made the mistake

Actually, he should probably post both -- so we can tell where he's misreading things. I mean -- to misread "mieru" as "kaete" is pretty severe.
