To say 'about' as in "about a week" or to show an approximate degree of something, use ~ほど
１週間ほど
isshuu kan hodo
About a week駅は１０キロほどさきです。
eki wa jukkiro hodo saki desu.
The train station is about 10 kilometers ahead.これは５，０００円ほどで買えます。
kore wa go sen en hodo de kaemasu.
This can be bought for about 5000 yen.

くらいとぐらい
They are both the same and can be used interchangeably. The proper word is actually "くらい", but it can be modified into "ぐらい" in certain situations.
Sometimes it's hard to pronounce "くらい" after certain words.
For example: "三時間くらい" (about three hours)
It's easier and more natural to say "三時間ぐらい". Say it yourself and see how natural the words flow.
But if you still insist on saying "三時間くらい", it's still perfectly correct.

what's the difference in use to gurai/kurai?
No difference in meaning or
No difference in meaning or use. I believe it is mostly a matter of taste similar to the two ways to pronounce "either." Some dialects may prefer one to the other, but I'm not sure.
