Interesting Book

Ohayogozaimasu!
I just wanted to tell about this really interesting book I picked up recently. It's called either "Inside the Japanese Mind" or "The Japanese Mind" I'll find it later and tell for sure which it is...anyway, it's really quite interesting and gives a lot of cultural information about the Japanese people. What I have read so far has really helped me to understand some of the behaviors of Japanese people. Or at least understand the culture a little better. Anyway if you get the chance you should definitely read it. So I just wanted to put that out there...

I've read that book!

Hey I've read that book! A little strong on psychology, but a pretty good exposition on the way the Japanese think. And you're right; it's definitely a must-read for any Japanese learner. It helped me a lot, bcoz it told me a lot about why the Japanese use so many I's and you's, and why they have so many keigo expressions.

  • 08:32:23 ummm k I have a question... When asking would you like something to eat would Nani tabetai desu ka? Be incorrect... the lesson i just used says Nanika tabetai desu ka?
  • 12:15:58 明けましたおめでとう!
  • 15:36:04 M Utley - Nani (o) tabetai desu ka? would mean What do you want to eat? But Nanika Tabetai desu ka? means Do you want something to eat? The difference in meaning is slight, but it's there!
