My Cheat's Kimono

Yeah, I couldn't be bothered to write it in Hiragana.
Um, so I am currently making a kimono, not like the traditional type with the collar up round the neck, but one that you might see on a Maiko or someone from a Hanamachi in Kyoto or indeed Tokyo.
Why?
Well... I've always had an obsession with Japanese culture, and found myself being able to relate to a lot of that culture in my own culture, you know? I had never really thought much about Geisha and that branch of Japanese culture, but I always knew about it, if someone was to ask me I could tell them all about it, but I was and still am more interested in modern J-Culture (cba writin the whole thing)
So it's nearly finished! Nearly, just have to sew the collar on (I know thats supposed to be done before its worn, >I know!<) and then edge the inside with blue material which is the same material as the Obi. My genius brother suggests I use bra hooks to keep it on! Who would have thought? And then the tie design for the obi will be detachable. Because this is a cheats kimono.
Cheat's Kimono! Do you love it?
I'll post pictures up when it's finished!
I also had home made Zori... but they magically disappeared once my mom got into my room.
Anyway, so when it's posted, everything you see will be handmade, I sewed everything by hand save for the back and the tops of the shoulders, which my mom did on the sewing machine.
I don't trust myself with the sewing machine.

interesting. I've had a wal-mart pattern for a kimono for ages, but in the end I bought a cheat's kimono at our local Chinese Cultural Center (so expensive, though... T^T)

but finally, someone other than me who doesn't trust his/herself with a sewing machine! XD;
