How can I plug my iphone into
How can I plug my iphone into the computer without it backing up every time? The reason I ask is because I need to upload the 2.2 software/update. And my iphone takes forever to back up.

It took a long time for me too with the 2.x OS, but I think 3.x has done a much better job of quickly backing it up. You may want just get the latest OS.

iPhone and iTouch only? Sheesh. This is dumb.
Why only for the iPhone and iTouch? I'm sure a lot of people have either devices, but still, there are A LOT more people who have phones capable of Java. It would have also been better if they made one for the iPod Classic (the hard drive based ones) and the iPod Nano since they share the same interface. More people own iPod Classics and Nanos than Touches.
Instead on focusing on what to add next time, I suggest developing the same application for Java and regular iPods. If this site is actually serious about advocating Japanese, they'd do this. If not, I just see it as another iPhone/iTouch fiasco. I also suggest porting this over to WinMo (Windows Mobile) since it also supports touch interface and its current market size is much larger than the iPhone's. But still, the demographic who use WinMo devices might not exactly be the ones targeted by this site.
I'll look into that, but my
I'll look into that, but my developer works only on Apple products and finding a reliable developer is a challenge. :( I would love to make an app for every single type of phone out there, but...
It was a big step for us to create this one app. We are hoping to do more, but I have to work with what I'm familiar with first. (that and recoup a bit of my money too!)

Hmm...
Almost every other type of phone supports Java and from what I know, applications on the iPhone/iTouch is a closed system, right? So people need jailbroken iPhones/iTouches just to use this? If I remember correctly, if the item isn't available in Apple's app store, you'll be needing a jailbroken unit to use the application which even narrows down your possible customers for this application.
I know it's a bit harsh criticizing your first application, but what I'm criticizing isn't the application itself but its availability. I think it was wrong to develop this on such a platform with a small market. You can see it from the polls alone. You'd be getting a lot more feedback if this was available as a Java application instead. And FYI, a lot more people develop on Java so I still don't know why you had to make this for the iPhone/iTouch.
You don't have to jailbreak
You don't have to jailbreak your iPhone; it can be downloaded through iTunes. So far, I am very pleased with the response--actually amazed how many people there are out there downloading these apps. It will take a few months to recoup our investment, but it is getting there.
Like I said, I can only work with what I am familiar. Years ago I had a Pocket PC. Maybe one day I'll get one, but I wouldn't want to sell software without thoroughly testing it first. :)
That being said, you have piqued my interest. I will do some serious research on this.

I bought it, I like it.
I am a just a begining Japanese language learner, I bought your app and have really liked it. I wish it had more than the 800 words, but it's all good. If I was going to change anything I would add a all hiragana line in addition to your kanji line. I really like the quiz feature on it, helps to reemphasize what you learn in the categories. Good job! Now I need to figure out what to use my $5 coupon on. Any suggestions?
Thanks! I'm planning on
Thanks!
I'm planning on adding a few more categories (probably two more for the next release). But I'm not sure when that will be. My long term goal is to get it over 1000. (I like round numbers) :)

Applications re: IPod et al...
Unfortunately, I have neither an IPhone or an IPod. However, I do have an DS Lite. I know that there are applications in Japan for Japanese speakers to study english using an Nintendo DS system. Has anyone though of developing a similar program so english speakers can learn Japanese using their DS?
There area many already.
