Study Log

08/13/11 12:54 SAB | just a note :) Lately, I've been focusing on Remembering the Kanji, so I don't visit this site because I don't have a lot of questions, I just review and write... review a lot... review more...but here's cool stuff! I'm on no. 480 right now.... it looks like this: 暗
02/04/11 13:00 FRI | 157-174 or something.. ch. 8 fin.
02/02/11 14:00 WED | 135-156 progress: SPEED!!! + rev14 14 14 14 14 >>
02/01/11 05:00 TUE | reviewed and did 127-134(ch.8) - hurry to ch. 14!!!
01/31/11 04:00 MON | reviewed. had massive realization that I take too long. I need to focus on a few/1 thing, expect myself to finish, have DIRECTION. --->. :)
also, I'm going to start a new study log after... after I reach.... 323, or the end of ch. 14, and I'm used to the new format of this part of RTK. I'm looking forward to that! (In case you haven't noticed, this study log motivates me to study, as if someone's reading it!
01/30/11 21:00 SUN | RTK ch 7
01/27/11 23:45 THU | RTK ch 6 plus review
01/26/11 19:20 WED | RTK 71-94
01/26/11 17:00 WED | RTK 71-83

01/25/11 10:10 TUE | some review (kanji)
01/24/11 11:00 MON | filled in anki up to chapter 12!!!
01/23/11 23:59 SUN | re-did ch. 4.
01/23/11 19:30 SUN | I posted a kanji list on my blog today, up to ch. 19 - Kanji List for Remembering the Kanji . I've completed chapter 3. (Yeah, I have far to go. I'm slightly depressed about it right now.)
01/23/11 08:30 SUN | updated anki up to chapter five. GOAL! (to aim for:) Also created a chara list for use with anki (up to ch. 7) by copying and pasting kanji with the flashcard adding feature on Reviewing the Kanji
♥FOR TRILLIAN♥ - special note. This is for Trillian, (so she can see what I'm working on): these are the kanji I reviewed today.
一, 二, 三, 四, 五, 六, 七, 八, 九, 十, 口, 日, 月, 田, 目, 旧, 自, 白, 百, 中, 千, 舌, 升, 昇, 丸, 寸, 専, 博, 占, 上, 下, 卓, 朝, 只, 貝, 貞, 員, 見, 児, 元, 頁, 頑, 凡, 万, 句, 肌, 旬, 勺, 的
isn't it cool what they look like?
I'll explain the numbers-->
一 one "eechee"
二 two "nee"
三 three "sahn"
四 four "yohn"
五 five "go"
六 six "roku" or "rohk" (R sounds different than ours, I can't explain it without sound)
七 seven "nah-nah"
八 eight "hachi" or "hach"
九 nine "kyew" or "kyū"
十 ten "jew" or "jū"

this is what kana look like! サラ!カキクケコアイウエオサシスセソワウィウウェヲ (gibberish)
ケショップです! "This is a cake!" ("Cay-kee-dess")
LATER EDIT: "This is a cake" is WRONG! ...? Here I will correct myself-- これはケーキです!
あいうえおかきくけこさしすせそはひふへほなにぬねの (gibberish)

Hahaha sorry if that was boring! :) but now you can pronounce the numbers if you ever wanted to.

01/19/11 20:00 WED | reviewing and learning up to RTK #70, missing two or three of them, but almost ready for ch. 5, basically.
12/31/10 01:00 FRI | reviewed all the kanji I know so far... 34 of them
12/28/10 00:09 TUE | Organized Japanese learning files on my PC. Still working on ep. 1, using WWWJDIC. Net is slow 2day; that's why I want to buy anime instead. :) Distracted. Get 5-10 words next time.
12/27/10 02:49 MON | 1st time: tried translating ep. 1 of ホワイトアルバム - it's a horrible idea. Slow progress. If I had a dictionary that could translate written items from me, derived from what I think I hear, it would be fine, but I don't know what kind of dictionary to use.
12/25/10 01:57 SAB | finally received Xmas present to myself: kanji dictionary and japanese coach for DS lite game system!!! I'm not using it until I've gotten a job and cleaned my room, though, so that will be annoying enough to finish those tasks....
12/19/10 11:30 SUN | rev all カタカナ and ひらがな
12/13/10 17:35 MON | rev more カタカナ and ひらがな, plus all kanji I've learned
12/12/10 12:00 SUN | review some of カタカナ + ひらがな normal sets + combo sets
12/08/10 09:00 WED | Reading Japanese Grammar Guide - AMAZING.

  • Use vid podcasts from Emory College Lang. Learn 2 write kana in written form.
  • review pronunciation
11/25/10 03:00 TUE | RTK 3 first part - studied on bed... not very effective. I was tired, but maybe not the best method?
11/23/10 10:48 TUE | RTK 2 anki review
11/22/10 19:18 MON | RTK 2, finished, and looked at TextFugu online textbook
  • after I finish RTK vol 1, I might want to go back as a beginner and learn with the online TextFugu instead of moving on to RTK vol 2. TextFugu sounds... AWESOME!!
11/22/10 13:45 MON | RTK 2, just first part
11/21/10 18:15 SUN | RTK 1
11/20/10 03:00 SAB | used Hiragana Megane to read aloud ふりがな above kanji in e-book: Kesshouki, by Shimei Futabatei
11/19/10 19:40 FRI | fiddled /c Reviewing The Kanji, I like reading tab! will I use flashcards or just make notes in book??
  • do one Heisig lesson everyday?
11/18/10 ??:?? THU | カタカナ review all 2x
11/16/10 17:00 TUE | カタカナ (review, palm)
  • review /c ntbk, need カタカナ combinations
11/16/10 00:23 TUE | ラリルレロ and ワウィヲ and ヤユヨ (anki, palm)
  • I've also realized I need to go back to the beginner page on The Japanese Page and go through everything to make sure I didn't miss anything. After that, I'm going to start on grammar and other general information so I understand more of what I'm getting myself into. Mostly, I've been focusing on the characters and watching a lot of anime ( ...:) ) which is good but very one-sided and I've gotten to a point where I need to make progress in those other areas I just mentioned!!!
11/11/10 17:06 FRI | マミムメモ (anki, ntbk)

This study blog's use will evolve as I go, but mainly right now, it helps me to see how quickly I'm learning Japanese and what areas I need to work on and the time it's taking me to do it all. If someone reading this happens to have a question about the sources I'm using, please comment or PM me!

Your diary is amazing!

Your diary is amazing! I mean this is about what I want to do right here. But my own study aids are two DS games plus what I've found on my own research. I thank you.
