JLPT N5 Grammar: V+ませんか ~masenka

 ABOUT:

■  Sometimes in English, to be polite, we ask questions in the negative. "Won't you take a seat?" Japanese does this often also for polite requests or questions. "Wouldn't you like?" "Won't you…?"

~ませんか is used to make polite invitations or to give soft commands.

HOW to use:

■ Replace ますwith ませんか.

EXAMPLES:

パーティーに()ませんか
Won't you come to the party?
[()ます to come | ()ません don't come]

映画(えいが)()()ませんか
Why don't we go see a movie?
[()きます to go | ()きません to not go]
