Shadowing Japanese with Yumi – Katakana Phrases Part 2

Want to improve your listening, pronunciation, and vocabulary all at once? Shadowing after Yumi is a great way to do just that.

What is shadowing? 

First read or listen to the phrase. Once you are sure you have the meaning, say the phrase with Yumi or repeat it immediately after her.

Open your ears to hear the pitch accents, vowel pronunciation, and intonation of the phrases. Then open your mouth to practice mimicking.

near the train station.

Germany

I want to go to Germany one day.

ドクター ストップ
when a doctor tells a patient to stop doing something (drinking, smoking, too much sugar, etc.)

ドクターストップでお酒(さけ)はもう飲(の)めない。
I don't drink anymore by doctor's orders.

ドンマイ
don't worry about it; don't pay any mind to that; it's OK

そんなミス、気(き)にするな。ドンマイ。
Don't fret about that mistake. It's okay.

I need a Phillips screwdriver. [Phillips is プラスドライバー and flathead is マイナスドライバー]
