JLPT N5 Grammar: いくら ikura – how much / how many


 ABOUT: 

いくら can be used for asking how many things there are, but it is most often used when asking how much something costs.


Examples:

この(くるま)は、いくらですか?
How much is this car?

値段(ねだん)は、いくらですか?
What is the price?

(かね)は、いくら()っていますか?
How much money do you have?


Other Forms:

■ いくらでも as much as you like; as many as you want
  9 お菓子(かし)は、いくらでも()ってください。 Take as much candy as you'd like.

■ いくら~ても no matter how (much or many) [use with the て form; takes a negative verb]
  9 いくら()いても、あげない。 No matter how much you cry, I won't give (it) to you.
