JLPT N5 Grammar: Series たり

Series たり


 ABOUT: 

■  Doing this, doing that, etc. This is for when you want to express a series of actions or states, but not list all possible actions or states. "Do things like … and … etc."

HOW to use:

Take the た form of a verb (simple past) or adjective and り.

 ■ Here is how a verb is constructed:

()つ to stand
  9 ()った stood (simple past)
    9 ()ったり things like standing…

■ Here is how an adjective is constructed:

(たか)い expensive
  9 (たか)かった was expensive
     9 (たか)かったり was expensive and…

EXAMPLE:

()たり(すわ)たり
Things like standing and sitting

ドルが()がったり()がったりする。
The dollar is just rising and falling.

今日(きょう)は、()(もの)をしたり、レストランで()たり
して、たくさんのお(かね)使(つか)った。
Today, I went shopping and ate at a restaurant, etc; I used a lot of money.
