Study for the JLPT N5 vocabulary

How Many Vocabulary in JLPT N5?

About 800 words.

That's the short answer. The slightly longer answer is that's what they told us for the old test (prior to 2010) and we really don't know the exact specifications for the current JLPT test.

In the past, the Japanese Language Proficiency Test makers published detailed lists of the vocabulary (as well as kanji and grammar) that would be found on the test. They no longer do this, but this vocabulary list should cover the vast majority of what is expected to know to pass the vocabulary section of the JLPT N5.

This list is based on the old information plus some new vocabulary confirmed to be included in the test.

Each vocabulary word is followed by a simple example sentence to give you context. There is also a sound file for each example sentence.

I have studied Japanese more than 30 years ago. However, I did not practice it over the years. I found this advertised on my Facebook and got curious about it and I purchased it since it's not very expensive. I did not regret purchasing it as I felt that the materials are easy to understand and would be good to help me refresh on the language.❞ - William
